Ellie Goulding - Wish I Stayed (Album Version)

Oh god, the album is so amazing. Magical. Of the 10 tracks I was most impressed to hear that she had amped up “Wish I Stayed” from the original slow semi-blah version on her website, it really packs a punch now and is quite a stand out. Others to look out for are “Salt Skin” and “Your Biggest Mistake”.

Pixie Lott - Boys & Girls

I’ve given in. Her album is pretty good, a lot of it sounds like 90’s stuff, and the song Gravity… well I’m pretty sure you could lay the lyrics over the Instrumental for “No Air” by Jordan Sparks and you’d get the same song. Regardless, it’s good pop.

A friend suggested this track to me today. He sounds a little like Adam Levine, especially in some of the other songs on the album. But overall it’s very catchy and I hear he’s starting to make some waves here in the states. His sound is 80’s meets present day softrockpop. Other tracks to check out “Don’t Bring Me Flowers After I’m Dead” and “Make It In Time”.

Bimbo Jones rarely disappoints, and they took this lackluster song from Adam and turned it out. Everything about this song says I should like it, the elements are there but they just don’t work for me. I even the video was great. May I suggest that even if you aren’t a fan of Adam, add this tasty mix to your iPod.

Girls Can’t Catch - Echo

For weeks I’ve been passing this song up because I figured this girl group would just be a one hit wonder with “Keep Your Head Up”. It takes a lot for a girl group to catch my attention. I’ve never been a fan of groups like Sugababes, The Saturdays or Girls Aloud. But after watching the video and giving it a listen they are definitely on track to go places.

In my opinion this would have been a nice upbeat track for Leona Lewis to have recorded for aptly named sophomore album.

Kesha - Your Love is My Drug

Although she appears to try too hard and the album is full of lots of throw away tracks such as “Party at a Rich Dude’s House”, it does have a few gems tucked in there. Like “Boots & Boys” that I previously posted, and this one that starts the album out - which makes me hope and pray that it’s the next single. Time will tell.

If you’re at all a fan of Darren Hayes (who is one of the most underrated pop artists of our time) then you know this is one of the most stellar tracks in his catalog which also came from one of the best pop albums from the last decade The Tension at the Spark. Darren is consistently able to capture mass amounts of human emotion in just a few minutes of a song. Unlovable is a testament to the fact.

It took me a while but I’m crazy in love with Owl City. Mixes have been slowly leaking of his “lead single” Fireflies. So far this is the best one, although Jason Nevins has worn out his welcome, his sound does lend itself well to this song.

New stuff from Shaznay, formerly of All Saints. It’s unsure if this song is from an upcoming release but the rumor is that she has signed with Concept Records. Not a bad song, but everything on her first poorly promoted “Open” beats this track.

Let me get old school on your ass with this release from Ashlee’s first album (a.k.a. when people still gave a moderate shit about what she did). Although this mix isn’t completely stellar I always enjoyed it because the first verse contained two new lines not in any other release of the song…
